Government Bans New Contract Hires

Kathmandu. Government bodies will now not be able to appoint new individuals on contract. The Council of Ministers meeting held on Thursday made such a decision. The Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives, Federal Affairs and General Administration informed all bodies by issuing a circular on Friday that new individuals cannot be appointed on contract in newly established or vacant positions.

The decision also states that if work needs to be done in places without employees, contract employees who are in the pool should be requested through the Federal Affairs Ministry and appointed to work by signing a contract agreement, according to the circular sent to all concerned bodies for implementation under the signature of Sajiv Nepal, Section Officer of the Ministry. 

In the case of bodies under various ministries that are in the process of integration or dissolution, the government has decided to assign the minimum manpower required for asset protection, security, and liability transfer until the integration or dissolution process is completed, from among the currently working contract employees, according to the circular.
