Filmmaker Prakash Sayami Criticizes Controversial Song Lyrics in Priyanka Karki's Upcoming Film 'Masterny'

Kathmandu. A controversy has erupted on social media and in the media over the lyrics of a song from actress Priyanka Karki's upcoming film 'Masterny'. On this very issue, renowned writer, producer, and director of the Nepali film industry, Prakash Sayami, has made a sharp comment through his social media Facebook.

Sayami clarified that he has no personal grievance regarding the lyrics of the controversial song, but instead made a sarcastic remark about Priyanka's family. He stated that Priyanka's parents, mother-in-law or ex-father-in-law, and current father-in-law have no objections, and since they have accepted this vulgar art, people outside the family should also be able to accept it.

Quoting the famous theatre personality Bertolt Brecht, Sayami termed this not as art but as 'vulgar art of the junk business'. He argued that such trends gain market attention and also earn money.

Sayami said that there is no option left but to show heartfelt sympathy to the people who survive on this art. Speaking about the song's lyrics, he pointed out that even if words like '...bhae aau, malai .. bhae aau' are removed from the dictionary, the meaning they convey and the impact they create are significant.

Sayami compared this trend to the old Indian film and drama artist Dada Kondke. He recalled that Dada Kondke also used to make songs and films using double-meaning words in his time. Citing titles from Kondke's films like 'Peeche ki Chhod, Aage ki Soch' and 'Andheri Raat Mein Diya Teri Haath Mein', Sayami mentioned that he created confusion in society.

Sayami accused such artists of earning money by blaming the audience, saying their minds are polluted and their thinking is not good. He commented that Dada Kondke needed nothing but money, and after his death, people did not even offer condolences, and today neither his art nor anyone to remember him remains.
