Nepal Police Report Highway Obstructions Due to Rain, Landslides

Kathmandu. Nepal Police has released details of major highway obstructions as of 2:00 PM on Saturday. According to the details, major roads in various provinces of the country have been affected due to continuous rain, floods, and landslides.

In Koshi Province, under Bhojpur Municipality 5 Bokhim, the Mid-Hilly Local Road has been operating one-way since Ashad 12 due to floods. There is also an alternative route available there. In Ilam Municipality 9 Rajaduali of the same province, the Mechi Highway has been completely obstructed since Ashad 23 due to continuous rain.

In view of potential floods in Bagmati Province, all vehicles plying on the BP Highway from Khurkot-Nepalthok-Katuñjebesi in Kavre have been prohibited from operating since Ashad 22. Although landslides occurred in Ghattēpākhā of Bakaiya Rural Municipality 11 and Bharyangdanda of Bhimphēdi Rural Municipality 8 in Makwanpur, the Kanti Lokpath has now been fully restored.

In Gandaki Province, the Saljhandi-Dhorpatan road section in Dhorpatan Municipality 9 Phallēghar, Baglung, has been completely obstructed since Ashad 26 due to landslides.

In Lumbini Province, the Kaligandaki Corridor in Pāudi, Kaligandaki Rural Municipality 2, Gulmi, has been operating one-way only since Ashad 25 due to a landslide. In Karnali Province, under Shuvakalika Rural Municipality 1 Gaganē Khola, Rukum, the Karnali Highway has now been fully restored after a landslide occurred on Ashad 27.
