Woman Dies, Four Injured in Dolpa Flash Flood

Kathmandu. A woman has died and four people have been injured in a mudslide flood in the Dhulakhola river following continuous rainfall in Jagadulla Rural Municipality-5, Gairigaun, Dolpa. The flood entered houses around 03:00 AM on Sunday, burying local Ananda Bik, approximately 55-56 years old, while she was sleeping inside her house. She was rescued with the help of police and locals and died while being taken to Jhyankot Health Post for treatment. Injured in the incident are Jas Bik, 60, Reuli Bik, 44, Niruta Bik, 15, and Sita Bik, 13. Reuli Bik, among the injured, is in serious condition and has been referred for further treatment, while the other three have been discharged after treatment. Junmaya Bik, 32, and Durge Bik, 29, relatives of the deceased, are being treated at the health post after fainting due to stress from the incident. According to preliminary details, one house has been completely damaged by the flood, while eight houses have sustained partial damage. Upon receiving information about the incident, the police team from Majhgaun Police Post, Dolpa District Police Office, Kaigaun Area Police Office, Hurikot Temporary Police Post, and the disaster management team of the Armed Police Force have been deployed to the scene. The police are collecting details of further damage caused by the flood and investigating the incident.
