Melamchi Water Supply Halted Due to Flood at Source

Kathmandu. Water supply to Kathmandu Valley has been temporarily stopped from today after flood entered the source of Melamchi Water Supply Project.

According to Kathmandu Upatyaka Khanepani Limited (KUKL) spokesperson Bir Bahadur Chand, the supply of water flowing from Melamchi to the treatment center in Sundarijal has been temporarily halted as the treatment process became complicated due to muddy water at the Melamchi source.

He said, "The water at the source has become excessively muddy due to rain, and water supply will be resumed according to the predetermined distribution schedule after the quality improves and the treatment process is restarted." If it rains continuously, it will take some time to supply water to Kathmandu.
