Kunshan's Pyramid Apartment Building Features Unique Design

In China, there are unique apartment buildings such as giant beehive-like residential buildings that can accommodate about 20,000 people, structures where trains run through buildings, and buildings built amidst busy flyovers. One such unique structure is Kunshan's Pyramid. This apartment building, due to its pyramid shape, is gaining special attention.

Located in the modern Huaqiao area of Kunshan, this building was completed in 2013. Known locally as the 'Pyramid of Kunshan', this apartment building has now become one of the city's major attractions.

Unlike a normal pyramid, the two outer walls of this 18-story building are vertical, while the other two walls are sloped. The apartments in the building are constructed in layers at a 45-degree angle, which gives it an attractive and distinctive appearance.

Masters Architectural Office, which designed this project, is said to have drawn inspiration from traditional Chinese terraced paddy fields when building the structure. Most apartments in the sloped section have the facility of a large private terrace, which is considered a special attraction of this building. 

However, along with its unique design, there are also some practical challenges. Due to the special shape of the building, it can be difficult for sufficient ventilation and natural light to reach the interior. Experts also say that the complex structure makes fire safety management challenging.
