NTV should strive to compete with other media: Information minister Basnet

Kathmandu - Minister for Information and Communications Mohan Bahadur Basnet has directed Nepal Television to project itself as a stringent competitor among other media.
 
Programmes run and action plan come up with by the state-owned television should have variations and keeping up with the spirit of Federalism, said the minister while speaking at an interaction organised here on Tuesday by the Nepal Television Employees' Association (NTEA) on the theme of 'Nepal Television in Federalism'. "It will not take time for the television to take a stride if available efficiency and qualification is used in the right time and right place. Consultations and discussions should take place to evaluate why government-funded organisations are lagging behind private organisations despite having adequate resources, human resource and technology," he said. 

He also stressed on giving reward for good performance and taking action against violation of office rules and regulations for reforms in organisations, while committing to implement Working Journalists Act for the welfare and security of working journalists. 

The event was also attended by Chairman of Administrative Court Kashiraj Dahal, Executive Chairman of Nepal Television Mahesh Dahal, General Manager Gobinda Rokka, Chairman of the International Federation of Social Workers, Nepal Shankar Lamichhane and NTEA Chairman Gobinda Dhital among others.
