CPN (UML) Parliamentary Party Leader Dangal Demands Finance Minister's Resignation Over Tax Rate Changes

Kathmandu. CPN (UML) Parliamentary Party Leader in the National Assembly, Prem Prasad Dangal, has demanded that Finance Minister Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat immediately resign from his post.

He argued that the Finance Minister has lost the moral standing to remain in office due to the serious crime of altering tax rates after the Economic Bill and the Budget were presented in Parliament.

Participating in the discussion on the government's budget for the upcoming fiscal year in the meeting held on Monday, leader Dangal stated that a parliamentary inquiry committee should be formed to investigate this matter and take action against the Finance Minister. Furthermore, he expressed strong dissatisfaction, stating that the budget presented by the government has no objective of building a socialist-oriented economy in line with the country's core principles.

Speaking about the incident of tax rate changes in Parliament and the Finance Minister's involvement, he said, 'Tax rates were altered after the budget and economic bill were presented in Parliament. It is imperative to immediately investigate the truth of this incident and take strict action against the guilty. Such a major incident is not possible without the involvement of the leadership. Therefore, the Finance Minister must resign immediately, and a parliamentary inquiry committee must be formed.'

Leader Dangal expressed full doubt about the actual implementation of some good and positive provisions included in the budget by the current government.
