Sherpa-led faction demands repolls for NMA's new leadership
Kathmandu - The faction led by Jimba Jambu Sherpa, the Presidential candidate for new Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) leadership who lost in NMA's elections on August 5 has demanded re-election, claiming ballot rigging.
The faction also showed a CCTV footage that they said has proved the election rigging at a press conference organised on Tuesday in the Capital to press authority for re-polls.
The electoral fraud has violated election code of conduct and tarnished NMA's image, they said.
They also threatened to move the court if the Kathmandu District Administration Office where a complaint of the rigging has been lodged failed to respond to their demand.
Speaking at the event, Sherpa said they were forced to seek legal remedy as vote rigging had taken place with the intention to defeat him.
He claimed that voters with fake identity cards were allowed to vote in collusion with NMA employees and those deployed for monitoring the election.
