Pokhara Faces Blood Shortage, Especially AB Positive

Kaski. There is a blood shortage in Pokhara. The Regional Blood Transfusion Service, under the Nepal Red Cross Society Kaski, has stated that the stock of 'AB Positive' blood group is decreasing, and it is becoming difficult to meet the demand.

Head of Blood Transfusion Service Arjun Gyawali said that since no regular blood donation programs are scheduled from Jestha 19 to 23, a situation of blood shortage may arise during this period, and an appeal has been made to everyone for emergency blood donation.

"Considering the potential for blood shortage, we have urged various organizations, clubs, mothers' groups, cooperative societies, and social groups to organize emergency blood donation programs. Please donate blood with the feeling that a small effort can save someone's life. Since the demand for blood is high here, regular programs are necessary," he said.

As Pokhara is also the provincial capital, patients are referred from other districts, leading to a high demand for blood here. According to the Regional Blood Transfusion Service, Pokhara requires 70 to 80 units of blood daily.
