Prime Minister Balen Shah States Government Relocating Squatters from Riverbanks

Kathmandu. Prime Minister Balen Shah has stated that the government has undertaken the task of relocating squatters residing on the riverbanks of the Kathmandu Valley to another location. Responding to a question posed by Aryan Rai, a Member of Parliament from the Labour Culture Party, during a House of Representatives meeting, Prime Minister Shah recalled having conveyed this to the federal government during his tenure in local government. 

He stated that the government will manage the land for those relocated from squatter settlements and kept in holding areas. He added that this is the recognition of the government led by him and the National Independent Party. 

Clarifying that Kathmandu was given the highest priority for removing squatters, Prime Minister Shah said it was done to save their lives from risk. 

He mentioned that 3 ministries are working on providing land. He stated that management will take some time. He also urged the Members of Parliament not to seek in 35 minutes what has not been done in 35 years.
