Rural municipality prepares tourism master plan

Myagdi – Malika Rural Municipality in Myagdi district has prepared the final draft of its five-year-long tourism master plan by incorporating the status of tourist sites, their potentials, problems they facing and the need assessments. 


The master plan has laid emphasis more on infrastructure development including trekking routes, home stay, recreational centres and the provision of housing to lure more tourists and develop the area as a popular tourist destination. 


The master plan has proposed to invest Rs 75 million for basic infrastructure development in the tourist sites of Malika Rural Municipality. Malika Dhuri, Bhalebasne lake, Baraha lake, Soledanda, Duru hill and Gaikharka lake among others are the better places to visit in Malika. 


Likewise, Room, Bim, Devisthan and Niskot villages are proposed to develop as the potential sites for home stay. 
The master plan was prepared by a consulting firm in participation with the tourism experts based on the field study and stakeholder consultations. 


After accepting the tourism master plan, Vice Chairperson of the Rural Municipality Kharmaya Bitalu said that the master plan would be adopted and the tasks of infrastructure development, publicity campaigns and promotional activities of the tourist destinations would be carried out as per the recommendations made in the master plan.
