Nepal Handicraft Expo Begins in Kathmandu

Kathmandu. Nepal Handicraft Expo has started in Kathmandu from Friday under the organization of the Federation of Handicraft Associations of Nepal. The Expo has been organized with the objective of developing, expanding and promoting the handicraft business and expanding the domestic as well as international market for handicrafts, the Federation has informed. The Expo, which will run until Jestha 10, has about 70 stalls of handicrafts and other Nepali export-potential goods in line with the concept of 'Make in Nepal, Made in Nepal' at Amrapali Banquet in Baluwatar. Various traditional and modern Nepali handicraft materials are displayed and sold in these stalls. The Federation believes that this Expo will expand the market for local handicrafts, establish direct contact between producers and consumers, and greatly help in the preservation of tangible-intangible art, culture and traditional dishes. The main attractions of the fair include handicraft exhibition and sale programs, presentation of various cultural programs, and display of skills by local industrialists, artists and artisans. Such a fair is expected to promote indigenous skills and entrepreneurship of Nepal.
