Kathmandu Valley to Get 27.5km Rail Line; DPR Consultant Sought

Kathmandu. The Rail, Metro Rail and Monorail Development Project has sought an international consultant to prepare a detailed project report (DPR) for a 27.5 km long railway line within the Kathmandu Valley. The 'Rail, Metro Rail and Monorail Development Project' has invited international expressions of interest for this. According to the notice issued by the project, this railway line is proposed on a ring road route starting from Narayan Gopal Chowk and going to Chabahil–Koteshwor–Satdobato–Ratnapark and returning to Narayan Gopal Chowk. It is mentioned that the entire cost of this project will be borne by the Nepal government's own budget. Interested international consultant companies must submit their online applications through the Public Procurement Monitoring Office's e-GP system (www.bolpatra.gov.np/egp) by 12 PM on June 15, 2026. The notice states that if the last date falls on a public holiday, the next day will be considered the last date. The project has stated that the evaluation of the expression of interest will be based on the qualification (50 percent), experience (40 percent), and capability (10 percent) of the consultant company and its main employees. A provision has been made that a company must score a minimum of 70 points to be shortlisted. The project has informed that only the top companies (shortlisted) selected through the evaluation of the expression of interest will be invited to submit technical and financial proposals.
