Nepal Police Report Highway Disruptions Due to Floods and Landslides

Kathmandu. Nepal Police has stated that transportation is affected on various highways across the country due to floods and landslides. 

Updating the details until 7 AM on Friday, it is informed that main road sections in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Karnali provinces are either completely blocked or only one-way open due to natural disasters. Considering the potential risks, the police have completely stopped the operation of vehicles on some road sections.

The most affected is Lamjung district in Gandaki Province. According to the details received, the Madhyapahadi Lokmarg in Misre Vyang in Madhya Nepal Municipality-10 of Lamjung district is completely blocked due to landslides. 

Similarly, in two separate places in Myagdi district of Gandaki Province, the Beni-Jomsom road section is open only one-way due to landslides. Due to landslides in Jalathale of Annapurna Rural Municipality-3 on Baishakh 16 and in Tallo Baisari of Raghu Ganga Rural Municipality-3 on Jestha 7, the said road has been opened only one-way. 

The road condition in Koshi Province is also similar. The Madhyapahadi Lokmarg is operating one-way due to floods in Bokhim of Bhojpur Municipality-5 on Baishakh 12, although an alternative route has been arranged for small vehicles here. The Koshi Highway is also operating one-way due to landslides in Nayabasti of Makalu Rural Municipality-3 in Sankhuwasabha on Baishakh 23.

In Kavrepalanchok of Bagmati Province, due to the risk of potential floods, all vehicles plying on the BP Highway road section from Khurkot-Nepalethok-Katunjebesi have been stopped since Baishakh 22. 
Similarly, in Humla of Karnali Province, due to the risk of potential landslides, vehicle operation has not been allowed on the Hilsa-Simikot road section in Ward No. 2 of Namkha Rural Municipality since Baishakh 29.
