Former Education Minister Mahabir Pun Opposes Prime Minister as University Chancellor

Kathmandu. Former Education Minister Mahabir Pun has opposed the provision of the Prime Minister not being the Chancellor of the university.

Speaking in the parliament meeting on Tuesday, Pun opposed the provision that remains in the ordinance related to the university brought by the current government.

'The ordinance related to the university brought by the government states that the university should be free from politics. I also wanted to bring the same. But in my imagination, the Chancellor should not be the Prime Minister. However, the current ordinance states that politics should not be in the university. But the provision is that the Chancellor will be the Prime Minister,' he said.

Similarly, he stated that the ordinance brought by the government could not address the development of science and technology for innovation.
