Madhesh University to Expand Educational Programs

Birgunj. Madhesh University is preparing to expand three more educational programs from the current academic session. The university, located in Birgunj, Parsa, which currently operates postgraduate programs in Public Administration (MPA), undergraduate programs in Law (BA LLB), and undergraduate programs in Public Management (BPM), is set to expand by three more educational programs in the current academic session.

According to Vijay Kumar Yadav, Registrar of Madhesh University, the university is planning to start teaching postgraduate Master of Business Administration (MBA) and undergraduate Bachelor of Law (LLB) and Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) programs from the current academic session 2083.

"The curriculum for all three faculties has been prepared," said Registrar Yadav, adding, "Preparations are underway to start classes from this academic session. We will publish a notice soon." He stated that the expansion is being undertaken due to the increasing attraction of students to the educational programs currently offered by the university.

Established on August 22, 2079 (BS), following the enactment of the Madhesh University Act, 2079 by the Madhesh Province Assembly on April 14, 2079 (BS), the university began offering programs in two faculties in its first year. The university operates its office by renting a building from National Trading in Birgunj.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Deepak Bahadur Shakya stated that Madhesh University aims to establish the first Madhesh Research and Training Center in the province, recognizing that teaching and learning can be made effective and quality through research and training.

"We are encouraged by the attraction of students to the classes we are conducting," said Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Shakya, adding, "In the future, we also aim to conduct classes related to medicine and health, including Medical Lab Technician and Physiotherapy." For the immediate future, plans are being made to conduct MBBS classes in medicine, using Birgunj's Narayani Hospital and Pokhariya Hospital in Pokhariya as bases, with feasibility studies to be conducted by a technical team.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Shakya informed that with the vision of making higher education at Madhesh University research-oriented, the university also aims to conduct technical educational programs related to Pharmacy, Science, and Information Technology, along with MPhil and PhD.

He also mentioned that there is a plan to establish the first 'Madhesh Skill School' in the province with the objective of producing skilled manpower by expanding easy access to higher education for the people in the rural areas of Madhesh Province, connecting education with labor, labor with skills, and skills with prosperity.
