National Planning Commission and Tribhuvan University to Collaborate

Kathmandu. Collaboration will be established between the National Planning Commission and Tribhuvan University. With the amendment of the formation order of the Policy Research Institute, coordination between the Planning Commission and TU will increase.

With the change in the structure of the board in the 'Policy Research Institute Development Committee (Formation) Order (Second Amendment, 2083)' published in Part-3 of the Gazette, the Vice-Chairman of the Planning Commission will be the ex-officio chairman.

The board will include the Vice-Chancellor of TU and two members nominated by the Government of Nepal, while the Executive Director will serve as the secretary of the board. The first meeting of the board was recently concluded under the chairmanship of the Vice-Chairman of the Planning Commission, Dr. Gunakar Bhatta, and in the presence of TU Vice-Chancellor Dr. Bhola Thapa.

Assistant Spokesperson of the Institute, Krishnaprasad BK, stated that the new arrangement will increase policy and academic coordination with the Commission and the University. The Institute, considered a think tank, has been adopting the directive principles of the constitution and state policies for study issues and subject matter.

The Institute has been providing policy suggestions to the Government of Nepal regarding the study and research of Nepal's strategic affairs, international relations, diplomacy, and foreign policy, and the measures to be adopted therein.

It has been given the responsibility of suggesting to the government regarding reforms to be made to make civil or public service more effective, accountable, dignified, efficient, and professional.

The Government of Nepal had issued the formation order of the Policy Research Institute in 2075 BS. When the board contacts the Government of Nepal, it does so through the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers.
