Prime Minister Balen Shah Announces Abolition of Education Equity Fee, Saving Parents Over 7 Billion Rupees

Kathmandu. With the abolition of the education equity fee, parents will save more than 7 billion rupees. Parents' said amount will be saved as Prime Minister Balen Shah announced that the three percent fee mentioned in the budget of the last financial year 2083/84 will not be implemented.

The fourth Nepal Living Standards Survey shows that currently, 3.6331 percent of the country's gross domestic product is spent by the private sector in schools and educational institutions up to the secondary level.

According to this, in the current Nepali economy of 66 kharba 7 crore rupees, 2 kharba 39 arba 72 crore rupees will be spent on this item alone. At the rate of three percent tax on this, parents will save 7 arba 19 crore 35 lakh 38 thousand rupees annually.

If the government had imposed a three percent education equity fee tax, this amount would have been deposited in the government's account. According to statistics, there are ten thousand four hundred seventy-three private schools across the country. Thirty-eight lakh students are studying in those schools.
