Police Inspector Accused of Bribery

Kathmandu. The Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority has filed a charge sheet against Police Sub-Inspector (ASI) Dinesh Raut, working at Police Circle Maligaon, at the Special Court Kathmandu.

 The Commission stated on Friday that a case has been filed against him after it was found that he took a bribe from a service recipient on the pretext of facilitating a case related to banking offenses. According to the Commission, Raut had demanded a bribe of Rs 20,000 from a service recipient by creating various pretexts, claiming he would help settle a case related to banking offenses (check bounce) and facilitate the return of the complainant's money.

A team dispatched from the Commission's Tangal office had apprehended him red-handed while he was accepting the bribe of Rs 20,000. Following an investigation, when it was established that Raut had harassed the service recipient and taken a bribe, the Commission filed a charge sheet today demanding a penalty equal to the embezzled amount of Rs 20,000 and imprisonment as per the Prevention of Corruption Act, 2059, informed Commission Spokesperson Suresh Neupane.
