IPL 2026: Bowlers' Awards See Shifts After Gujarat Titans vs Royal Challengers Bengaluru Match

Kathmandu.  Following the match between Gujarat Titans and Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 on Thursday, there have been changes in the race for individual awards by the players of both teams.  

Especially in bowling, Bengaluru's fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar has performed excellently and taken the top spot in the list of highest wicket-taking bowlers. After taking 3 wickets for 28 runs against Gujarat, he has secured the Purple Cap with 17 wickets in the season.

Bhuvneshwar has succeeded in taking three wickets in a single match for the fifth time this season. He has surpassed Ishan Malinga of Sunrisers Hyderabad, who has 15 wickets.  

Similarly, Kagiso Rabada of Gujarat, after taking only 1 wicket in the same match, has been confined to third place with 14 wickets along with Jofra Archer and Anshul Kamboj. Malinga will have an opportunity to return to the top spot through Sunday's match.

There was no major upheaval in the Orange Cap list for batting. After Virat Kohli of Bengaluru was out for 28 and captain Shubman Gill of Gujarat for 43, the dominance of Abhishek Sharma, Heinrich Klaasen, and Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who are in the top three, remains.  

All three of these players have already crossed the 400-run mark this season. Virat Kohli remains in fourth place with 379 runs, while Gill has moved up to fifth place, surpassing KL Rahul. Another impressive batsman for Gujarat, B Sai Sudharsan, has fallen behind in this race after scoring only 6 runs.
