23rd NSJF Pulsar Sports Awards to be Held on August 31

Kathmandu. The 23rd edition of Nepal's prestigious 'NSJF Pulsar Sports Awards' will be held in Kathmandu on August 31. The Nepal Sports Journalists Forum (NSJF) announced the 23rd edition of the awards at a press conference in Kathmandu on Wednesday. This year, the awards ceremony will be held at 'The Blue Pavilion' of the Nepal Police Club in Exhibition Road, Kathmandu. Last year, the event was held outside the valley in Pokhara for the first time. The forum also provided information about the main sponsor along with the date of the awards at the press conference. Forum President Niranjan Adhikari and main sponsor Golchha Group's Director Abhimanyu Golchha signed the agreement. The agreement, worth a total of Rs 4.5 million, marks Golchha Group's 19th consecutive year associated with the awards. The five-year contract was renewed last year. Golchha Group Director Abhimanyu Golchha expressed pride in being associated with Nepal's most popular sports award for 19 years. He stated that this year, Rs 1.7 million in cash and five motorcycles will be presented. He mentioned that Golchha Group considers this award more as a responsibility than a collaboration. While involved in various sports activities, he noted that this award provides the most enthusiasm and has a special intimacy as it directly honors players, coaches, and sports personalities. Nepal Sports Journalists Forum President Niranjan Adhikari said that this award is a shared honor for all Nepali sports personalities. He mentioned that the NSJF family is excited to work for the sports sector continuously for 23 editions and informed that preparations are underway by forming various sub-committees to make the award more organized, fair, and grand. According to Forum General Secretary Anjan Khadka, awards will be presented in 9 categories this year. These include Player of the Year Male, Player of the Year Female, Young Player of the Year, Coach of the Year, People's Choice Award, Para Athlete Award, Special Award, Lifetime Achievement Award, and Asian Sports Journalist Award. The nominations for Player of the Year Male, Female, Young Player, Coach, and People's Choice Award will be announced in a few days, the forum said. There will be an equal number of final nominations in each category. The winners of the Best Player Male, Female, Coach, People's Choice, and Young Player categories will each receive a Bajaj motorcycle. Winners and honored individuals in other categories will be honored with cash prizes, informed General Secretary Khadka. Last year, Dipendra Singh Airee was declared the Best Male Player of the Year, Karateka Erika Gurung was the Best Female Player of the Year, Kabiraj Negi Lama was the Best Coach of the Year, Volleyball player Himal Sunari received the People's Choice Award, and Pooja Mahato was declared the Young Player of the Year. Similarly, Tulsi Kumar Gurung received the Special Award, Prabha Angdembe received the Para Athlete Award, Bangladeshi journalist Rana Hasan received the Asian Sports Journalist Award, and Khadga Ranabhat received the Lifetime Achievement Award.
