Lama elected NMA's Chair
Kathmandu - Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) has elected Santabir Lama has its new chairperson.
Lama garnered 383 votes against 316 votes obtained by his closest rival, Jingbajangbu Sherpa. Dibas Bikram Shah was elected as the 1st Vice Chairman with 370 votes while Maya Sherpa was elected the 2nd Vice Chairperson with 364 votes.
Kul Bahadur Gurung was elected NMA's General Secretary with 381 votes while Tika Ram Gurung and Sudarshan Neupane were elected Secretary and Treasurer with 350 and 332 votes respectively, said newly elected member, Binaya Shakya.
The newly elected members include Prof Dr Hari Prasad Shrestha, Binaya Shakya, Pasang Tendi Sherpa, Sanjeev Gurung, Singi Lama, Mingmar Sherpa, Tulasi Gurung, Da Golje Sherpa and Ang Che Wang Sherpa.
A total of 760 votes were cast from a list of a total of 1,039 voters. The results were published at 1 am this morning.
