London Charity Event Supports Dr. Bhagwan Koirala's Nationwide Children's Hospital Campaign

London. A charity event was held in London to support the ambitious campaign led by senior cardiologist Dr. Bhagwan Koirala to build children's hospitals in all seven provinces of Nepal. Organized by K-Pals UK at the Blue Room in Harrow, the event saw enthusiastic participation and support from the Nepali community and various organizations in the UK.

The event, aimed at providing financial and technical support to the Kathmandu Institute of Child Health (KIOCH), featured cultural performances, a raffle draw, and an auction. Addressing the program virtually from Kathmandu, Dr. Bhagwan Koirala stated that while maternal and infant mortality rates in Nepal have improved over the past decade, they are still not satisfactory compared to developed nations.

He explained that the initiative to build hospitals in all seven provinces is intended to provide children with quality, affordable, and accessible healthcare. He noted that a hospital is already operational in Damak, Koshi Province, and a central hospital is under construction in Hepali Height, Kathmandu.

The chief guest, Acting Ambassador to the UK Bipin Duwadi, praised the contributions of Nepalis living abroad toward improving education and health in their homeland. He described the campaign as exemplary, stating that organizations like KIOCH significantly bolster government efforts.

Similarly, record-breaking mountaineer Hari Budha Magar discussed the dreams and potential of people with disabilities and appealed to everyone to join hands for the future of Nepal's children.

NRNA ICC Vice President Ramsharan Simkhada and NRNA UK President Rajendra Pudasaini emphasized the need for transparent utilization of the collected funds and pledged full individual and institutional support for this noble cause. K-Pals UK Trustee Dr. Durga Sigdel shared that his organization is working on skill development and training for Nepali doctors and nurses in addition to providing financial support.

During the event, Dr. Sudarshan Gurung entertained attendees with popular songs, while Dr. Pratishtha Tripathi, Kabita Ranamagar, Deepti Koju, Arisha Shakya, and Aisha Moktan performed captivating dances. The event was successfully concluded through the active efforts of K-Pals UK trustees Prof. Dr. Satyan Rajbhandari, Dr. Ramesh Koju, Shivji Shrestha, and Prasuna Kadel.
