Nitesh Tiwari's 'Ramayana' faces plagiarism allegations following teaser release

Mumbai. The release of the teaser for the highly anticipated film 'Ramayana', directed by Nitesh Tiwari, has sparked intense debate and controversy on social media.

Unveiled on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti, the teaser showcases Lord Rama's appearance, battle sequences, and grand VFX. While many have praised the film's scale, social media users are criticizing several scenes, alleging they are direct copies from Hollywood films and popular series.

Specifically, claims have been made that the battle scenes in Lanka and the character designs of the demons resemble those from the famous Hollywood series 'Game of Thrones' and the film 'The Lord of the Rings'. On the social media platform X, a user accused the film, produced on a massive budget of 4,000 crore rupees, of copying Hollywood shots to deceive the audience. Some have even commented that certain scenes appear inspired by 'The Dark Knight' and 'Dune: Part Two', suggesting that Bollywood is losing its originality.

Many have expressed dissatisfaction, arguing that Bollywood treats a mythological and revered subject like the Ramayana merely as a showcase for VFX and CGI. 'Bollywood always wants to copy Hollywood; the shadow of Game of Thrones is clearly visible here,' another user wrote.

However, some supporters have defended the film, citing the example of the previous blockbuster 'Baahubali', which was also influenced by Hollywood, arguing that the use of such techniques and styles is common in creating grand-scale cinema.
