Construction Council Condemns Arrest of Former PM KP Sharma Oli

Kathmandu. The Nepal Construction Industry Council has strongly condemned and denounced the arrest of former Prime Minister and CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli.

Issuing a press release on Thursday, the Council deemed the arrest of Oli from his private residence in Gundu as vindictive and retaliatory. The statement, signed by Council Chairman Balibhadra Rana and General Secretary Ramsharan Deuja, stated, 'This arrest, carried out with political prejudice and a spirit of revenge, is an attack on all those who stand for democracy, the rule of law, and justice.'

The Council has strongly demanded the immediate release of Chairman Oli. As a well-wishing organization of UML, the Council also committed to actively participate in every activity of the party during this difficult situation faced by the party.

Furthermore, the Council has called upon all affiliated construction entrepreneurs across the country to stand up against this 'vindictive' arrest and to protest. The statement also claimed that this move has attacked the democratic values and norms of the country.
