Ranveer Singh's 'Dhurandhar: The Revenge' Receives 'A' Certificate from Censor Board Due to Intense Content

Mumbai. The highly anticipated film 'Dhurandhar: The Revenge' starring Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh has been granted an 'A' certificate by the Censor Board. The film, set for release on March 19, will now only be viewable by audiences above 18 years of age.

The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) deemed the film suitable only for adults due to the excessive violent and disturbing scenes present in it. Previously, the first part of this film was 3 hours and 34 minutes long, and the second part will be even longer at 3 hours and 49 minutes. With this duration, it ranks sixth on the list of the longest Bollywood films.

The Censor Board made cuts to several scenes and dialogues before granting the certificate. Specifically, they directed that scenes involving striking the head with a hammer, decapitation, kicking, and striking with a cement block be shortened. Furthermore, warning messages were mandated for scenes depicting eye-gouging and drug-related content.

Some profanities used in the film have been muted, and certain objectionable words and names have been changed. Due to all these alterations, the total length of the film has been reduced by 1 minute and 34 seconds. If these scenes had not been cut, the film would have exceeded 230 minutes.

Improvements were also made to some technical and historical facts in the film. The date of demonetization in the subtitles has been corrected, and permission was granted to use references and news footage related to the Prime Minister. Additionally, 'Delhi' has been used instead of 'Lahore' in an informational segment, and Hindi text has been added to a scene in Varanasi.

The necessary certificate for scenes involving animals used in the film has also been submitted. Directed by Aditya Dhar, the film stars Ranveer Singh alongside Sara Arjun, Sanjay Dutt, and Arjun Rampal in lead roles.

'Dhurandhar 2' is set to release in theaters on March 19, with paid previews starting tonight at 8 PM. Its first installment was a blockbuster and became the highest-grossing Bollywood film in India. 'Dhurandhar' also holds the record for the highest-grossing film of 2025 so far. Due to its large budget and star cast, expectations are high that this second part will also set new box office records.
