Two Killed, Six Injured in Storm in Udaipur, Nepal

Udayapur. Two people have died and six others have been injured in a storm in Katari Municipality-5 and 8 of Udayapur. According to District Police Office Information Officer Deputy Superintendent of Police Niranjan Thapa, 49-year-old Minamaya Tamang of Katari-8 Thaliyatar died after being hit by a branch of a Kutmero tree during the storm that struck on Monday evening.

Similarly, 64-year-old Birendra Chaudhary died when a Sakhua tree fell due to the storm near the Radhakrishna Temple located at Katari-5 Tinkune Chowk.

Those injured in the storm include 20-year-old Kamalakumari Pulamimagar of Katari-8, five-year-old Binisha, the granddaughter of the deceased Chaudhary of Ward-5, 27-year-old Yuvraj Karki, Premchandra Danuwar, Lil Bahadur Danuwar, and 16-year-old Asmita Pariyar from the same ward.

Among the injured, two have been referred to Nobel Hospital in Biratnagar for further treatment. Police stated that 46-year-old Lil Bahadur Danuwar of Katari-5 and 20-year-old Kamalakumari Pulamimagar have been referred to Biratnagar. Police informed that the other four people were discharged after receiving minor treatment at Katari Hospital on Monday evening.

Information Officer Thapa stated that the bodies have been brought to Katari Hospital for post-mortem examination and preparations are underway. Police reported receiving details of houses having their roofs blown off and minor damage in the hilly areas of Katari due to the storm and rain.
