Nepali Congress Exits Lumbini Province Government

Butwal. Nepali Congress has exited the Lumbini Province government. With the new political equation developed at the center, the Congress's five ministers have collectively resigned, withdrawing their support to the government.

Nepali Congress Lumbini Province Parliamentary Party Chief Whip Dhanalaxmi Shrestha submitted the collective resignation of the ministers along with the letter withdrawing support to the government to Chief Minister Chetanarayan Acharya.

The ministers who resigned include Urban Development and Water Supply Minister Saroj Thapa, Economic Affairs and Planning Minister Dhanendra Karki, Industry, Tourism and Transport Minister Prachanda Vikram Nyaupane, Social Development Minister Janmajaya Timilsina, and Forest and Environment Minister Devkaran Prasad Kalwar.

Following the change in the power equation in central politics, the Congress, which participated in the Lumbini Province government, decided to exit the government. Accordingly, the Congress ministers have collectively resigned from their posts.

With the Congress exiting the government, preparations for the formation of a joint government of CPN (UML) and Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) have now moved forward in Lumbini Province.

Discussions are underway between the top leadership of both parties regarding the appointment of new ministers, distribution of portfolios, and government formation.
