Chitwan District Administration Implements New System to Regulate and Streamline LP Gas Distribution

Chitwan. The District Administration Office, Chitwan, has implemented a new system to make the sale and distribution of LP gas more organized and transparent. Following discussions with stakeholders on Friday to resolve issues observed in market gas supply and distribution, the administration has decided to make gas distribution need-based and increase special monitoring to control potential irregularities.

According to the notice signed by Assistant Chief District Officer Chiranjibi Sharma, gas will be provided on a priority basis to senior citizens above 75 years of age, completely incapacitated or disabled individuals, and students living in rented rooms. The notice mentions that if these target groups face problems obtaining gas, they can contact the District Administration Office's toll-free number 1660-5652001 for information.

In line with the Nepal Oil Corporation's decision, gas industrialists and retailers must maintain clear records of the quantity of gas they receive and sell. A system has been established requiring them to submit these details daily to the District Administration Office. The administration has stated that strict action will be taken if irregularities are found in the records.

The administration has urged general consumers to contact nearby retailers to obtain gas, avoid hoarding gas beyond their needs, and increase the use of electric stoves to reduce gas shortages. Consumers have also been requested to report if gas is being hidden or sold illegally by calling the toll-free number or the police hotline number 100. The notice emphasizes that everyone's cooperation is necessary to make the gas distribution system equitable.
