Roads Affected by Rain, Landslides Across Nepal

Kathmandu. Main highways have been affected due to floods and landslides in various parts of the country. According to the data of Nepal Police as of 8 AM today, many road sections in Bagmati, Koshi, and Lumbini provinces are completely or partially obstructed.

The Chandragiri Municipality-9 Deurali Devsthan near Sastungal-Chitlang road section in Kathmandu is completely obstructed due to a landslide. It has been informed that the road will remain closed for about a month as repair work is underway at that location.

Similarly, there is a high risk of floods in the Khurkot-Nepal Thok-Katunjebesi section of the BP Highway passing through Kavrepalanchok district, and vehicle operation has been stopped.

Road obstruction has also been seen in various districts of Koshi Province. The Mid-Hill Highway located in Dobhan, Yangwarak Rural Municipality-2, Panchthar, is completely obstructed due to floods.

However, in some places, traffic has been operating on a one-way basis. In Bokhim, Bhojpur Municipality-5, the Mid-Hill Highway affected by floods has been resumed one-way using an alternative route. 

Likewise, the Koshi Highway, which was obstructed due to a landslide in Makalu Rural Municipality-3, Naya Basti, Sankhuwasabha, is now operating one-way.

Rolpa has also been damaged by landslides. The Ghhorahi-Thawang Shahid Highway located in Banga, Parivartan Rural Municipality-1, Rolpa, is completely obstructed due to landslides.

The Department of Roads and security agencies are trying to clear the obstructed roads. As the rain continues, the public has been urged to contact the concerned district administration or police office to get information about the road condition before traveling.
