Prachanda Frames Upcoming Elections as Referendum on National Sovereignty and Unity

Kapilvastu. The Chairman of the Communist Party of Nepal, Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda', has interpreted the upcoming elections not merely as a process of victory or defeat, but as a referendum to protect the nation's sovereignty and unity.

Addressing an election rally for Constituency No. 3 in Krishnanagar, Kapilvastu, Prachanda appealed to the general voters to defeat the forces attempting to push the country into crisis and to stand in favor of national unity.

During his address, Prachanda claimed that politics found a way out only after he and Madhav Kumar Nepal reached an understanding at the President's residence on the night of Bhadra 26 to form an interim government and hold elections within six months. He stated that it is a matter of happiness and pride that the country, which initially went through a phase where there was no democratic alternative other than elections, is now heading into a full election despite many ups and downs.

He asserted that this election is not just the traditional game of electing one candidate and defeating another. Prachanda characterized this election as a competition between forces wishing to promote national unity and those attempting to push the nation into crisis.

He urged the public to be cautious of such extremist forces, noting that on one side is the tendency to kill protesting Gen Z individuals, and on the other is the tendency to burn national heritage sites from Singha Durbar onwards, both competing in the election under various pretexts and arguments.

He clarified that the crucial question before the people now is whether to vote for the forces that protect the nation's sovereignty, maintain national unity, and secure the people's right to self-determination, or for others.

Discussing the historical and political significance of Kapilvastu district, Prachanda stated that this district holds a distinct identity in Nepal's political movement, production, and struggle. He mentioned that Kapilvastu has established its unique existence and identity in various periods of history across agriculture, industry, and business. He expressed confidence that the people of Kapilvastu will make the right decision in this hour of national crisis.
