KP Sharma Oli: Political Integrity and Resolve are Keys to Success

Jhapa. CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli stated that political integrity and firm resolve are the true foundations of success. Speaking at a special event marking the release of the ninth edition of his wife Radhika Shakya's book 'My Experiences' and their 38th wedding anniversary, he illuminated the current political situation of the country and various aspects of his own challenging life.

He expressed strong dissatisfaction, particularly towards elements that weakened the nation by splitting the party, which had achieved a two-thirds majority, due to self-interest. Recalling how he shed blood and sweat to establish UML as the country's leading force starting from a small point, Oli claimed that those who could not tolerate the party's success weakened the movement.

Defending his working style and political stance, he stated that he is not someone who walks on paths made by others, but rather one who forges a new track by leaping into cliffs and ravines. Narrating the reality that the person who blasts a path through difficult terrain must initially face hardship himself, he asserted that he has moved forward throughout his life by taking on new challenges. His argument was that stubbornness applied to the right cause made the republic and major changes possible in Nepal.

Oli also appeared somewhat emotional while discussing his difficult past days. Having been involved in the fight against the Panchayat and monarchy since his adolescence, he recounted the challenges of his long 14-year imprisonment and underground life. Expressing the pain of having to destroy many of his literary creations and notes due to the fear of arrest during that time, he mentioned that he is still accustomed to speaking largely from memory.

Speaking about the importance of transparency and sacrifice in politics, he openly declared that he never kept track of money in his personal life and lived proudly on his wife's earnings. Oli, who prefers to call himself 'Jhoitingre' (a term implying dependence on a wealthy spouse), interpreted this as a new narrative of social justice and gender equality.

At the event, Oli especially urged the younger generation to understand the importance of time and be conscious of the country's future. Stating that life is the joining of small dots of time, he advised against wasting life by passing time. Expressing serious concern over the country's declining population and demographic balance, he also called upon the youth to marry on time and secure the nation's existence by having children.

Emphasizing that political leadership must dedicate every moment of time to nation-building, he reiterated the resolve to advance UML once again as the decisive force of the country.
