Three Family Members Arrested for Rs. 4 Crore Land Fraud

Janakpurdham. Dhanusha police have arrested three members of the same family on charges of defrauding Rs. 4 crore by mortgaging land kept in mortgage to the bank.

District Police Office Dhanusha's Deputy Superintendent of Police Rupak Khadka informed that Gopal Saha, 53, his wife Rekha Saha, 48, and son Hareram Saha, 32, residents of Kapileshwor, Janakpurdham Metropolitan City-16, Dhanusha, who were absconding in cases of improper transaction (meter-interest) and fraud, have been arrested.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Khadka, Gopal was arrested from a hotel in Janakpurdham, Rekha from the Jatahi border crossing in Nagaraain Municipality, Dhanusha, and son Hareram from Kathmandu.

Govinda Kumar Saha, a resident of Janakpurdham Metropolitan City-2, had taken a loan of Rs. 99 lakh by mortgaging land and executing a promissory note with Gopal Saha for business. Deputy Superintendent of Police Khadka stated that it was found that Gopal Saha and all three of them took a loan of Rs. 4 crore by mortgaging the land, which was registered in mortgage, to the bank without the knowledge of the landowner.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Khadka said that 50 land ownership certificates, 18 citizenship certificates, one laptop, and various seals and maps were recovered from Gopal Saha's house in Janakpurdham. Police said that an investigation is underway against all three arrested individuals.
