Six-Point Agreement Reached Following Communal Clash in Rautahat, Nepal

Rautahat. Following a communal clash in Sabagadh, the headquarters of Gaur Municipality in Rautahat, a six-point agreement has been reached between both parties through the initiative of the District Administration. The administration stated that tension in the area is gradually subsiding following the agreement reached in the meeting hall of the Rautahat District Administration Office.

The discussion, held on Friday in the presence of Rautahat's CDO Dinesh Sagar Bhusal, concluded in a cordial atmosphere. The agreement includes commitments such as maintaining social harmony, exercising mutual restraint, refraining from spreading any rumors, and ensuring peaceful participation in the upcoming election on Falgun 21.

Previously, on Thursday night, a dispute erupted in Sabagadh when a wedding procession playing music while passing in front of a mosque was obstructed by people from a different community. The District Police Office, Rautahat, reported that an altercation, escalating to stone-pelting and clashes, occurred between the wedding procession of Satyanarayan Sah's daughter, coming from Baudhimai Municipality-9 Saramujwa towards Sabagadh, and the local Muslim community.

Six people from both sides were injured in the initial clash. Police informed that the injured were sent to the Provincial Hospital, Gaur, for treatment, their condition is stable, and they have returned home after treatment.

Over the same issue, a double clash began again on Friday morning around 9:15 AM with a crowd of four to five hundred people gathering. When the situation began to go out of control, security teams were mobilized under the command of Nepal Police SP Sitaram Rijal and Armed Police Force SP Ramhari Adhikari. District Police Spokesperson DSP Bishnupradip Basnyal informed that 12 rounds of aerial (blank) fire and 40 rounds of tear gas were used to control the situation.

Two police officers along with six local residents were injured in the second clash. Police stated that the condition of all injured is stable, and some have been discharged after treatment. Following the incident, a joint team of the District Police and Armed Police Force has tightened security in the area.

The administration has again appealed to all parties to exercise restraint and maintain social harmony as per the agreement.
