Nepal and Portugal Jointly Inaugurate New Nepali Embassy in Lisbon

Lisbon. Foreign Secretary of Nepal, Bharat Bahadur Rai, who is in Lisbon to attend the Nepal-Portugal Bilateral Consultation Mechanism meeting, jointly inaugurated the Chancery of the Nepali Embassy in Lisbon with the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs and Development Cooperation of Portugal, Dr. Ana Isabel Xavier, during a special ceremony on Thursday.

On that occasion, Foreign Secretary Rai expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Government of Portugal for its cooperation in establishing the embassy. He expressed confidence that the embassy would serve as a bridge to further strengthen relations between the two countries.

According to the embassy, the Portuguese Secretary of State expressed happiness at being hosted by the Nepali Embassy in Portugal and committed the Portuguese government's continued support for the smooth operation of the embassy.

The 'Dean' of the diplomatic community in Lisbon, Andres Carrascoza Cosso, welcomed the new Nepali Ambassador, Prakashmani Paudel, to the diplomatic 'corps'.

On Thursday evening, the Nepali Embassy also organized a reception to mark the 76th Democracy Day, attended by representatives of the migrant and Nepali community organizations in Portugal.
