Araniko Highway Reopens After Fatal Tipper Accident in Banepa

Kathmandu. The Araniko Highway, which was obstructed following the death of a scooter rider after being hit by a tipper in Banepa, Kavre, has resumed operation. Thirty-one-year-old Omen Pradhan, a resident of Banepa originally from Dhulikhel Municipality-8, died in the accident. Following the accident, locals set the tipper with license plate Bagmati Province-01-004 Ka 3423 on fire and obstructed the highway.

Police brought the situation under control by firing tear gas. Twelve shells of tear gas were fired to control the crowd, DSP Rabin Bista of the District Police Office, Kavre, told Ratopati. The deceased Pradhan was riding the scooter with license plate Bagmati Province-029-063 Pa 1989. DSP Bista informed that the tipper driver has been taken into custody.
