MP Jagdish Kharel Demands Change in Road Standard for Laltipur Residents

Kathmandu. Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) MP Jagdish Kharel (Lalitpur) has demanded a change in the standard for the 45-kilometer road from Gwarkhu Lubhu, Lamatar to Panauti, stating that residents of the area are unable to enjoy their property due to the change in standard. 

Speaking in the House of Representatives meeting on Tuesday, MP Kharel said that Article 25 of the constitution provides for the right to property, which is also a fundamental right, but the residents, especially of Lalitpur 2, are unable to enjoy it.

“The public has become a victim due to the standard adopted for the national highway,” he said, “Residents who have been living for hundreds of years are in trouble due to the 62-meter standard.”

He stated that the settlement in that area is on the verge of destruction due to such a standard, and there is no need to keep the 45-kilometer road under the national highway standard. He also demanded that the standard be withdrawn by the Council of Ministers.
