Rastriya Swatantra Party Leader Mamta Sharma Resigns, Citing Disagreement with Party Style and Ethics

Kathmandu. Rashriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Madhesh Chairperson Mamta Sharma has announced her resignation, forfeiting even her ordinary party membership. Sharma, who is the founding chairperson of the RSP Madhesh Province and currently a member of the Central Women and Social Development Department, resigned due to dissatisfaction with the party's working style.

"I joined this party inspired by the main slogan that the younger generation should enter politics and that the knowledgeable should be chosen," she stated in her resignation letter. "However, I have experienced that the methodology adopted by the party regarding the upcoming election on Falgun 21, the party's decisions, and its working style are completely contrary to the founding values, party statute, and public commitments of the RSP."

Sharma further added, "The contributions of capable 'Ghanti' (RSP symbol) friends who worked day and night in the organization have not been properly evaluated, activities contrary to rules and statutes have occurred, party principles have not been implemented in practice, and fundamentally, the party's decisions are being motivated by financial irregularities, creating a situation that compromises my self-respect and political values. I am unable to remain silent as a witness to all these activities. Therefore, effective from today, I submit my resignation, forfeiting even my ordinary membership in this party."

Sharma is from Bara. She is the founding chairperson of the RSP Madhesh Province. She had been dissatisfied after not receiving a ticket at the last moment, despite hoping to secure one this time.

Mamata had also applied for proportional representation. She successfully secured the third position in the primary election, but when the list was prepared, the party moved her name to the seventh position, after which she refused to remain on the proportional representation list.
