Actor Rajesh Hamal Says Film 'Prawasi Jeevan' Depicts the Story of Nepalis Seeking a Bright Future Abroad

Kathmandu. Actor Rajesh Hamal stated that the film ‘Prawasi Jeevan’ (Migrant Life) narrates the story of Nepalis who go abroad dreaming of a bright future. He mentioned that he is associated with the film because it conveys this message.

‘When I was in America, I met the director and actor Shyam Ji. I agreed to do the film because of his dedication to acting,’ he said. ‘The subject matter seen in this film addresses the stories of Nepalis living abroad somewhere.’ He added that the suffering of migrants can be easily understood from the film.

At an event held in the capital, film director Shyam Chhetri stated that anyone who goes abroad will find themselves in the film's story. ‘We discuss the physical hardships a lot, but we tend to ignore the mental torture being endured,’ Director Chhetri said. ‘We have shown the beautiful future after that time and after leaving that place in the film.’

The film, which is set to release across Nepal on the upcoming Falgun 15, is jointly directed by Shyam Chhetri and Ram Adhikari. The film carries the story of the migrant life, including the struggles faced by Nepalis who went to the United States from Nepal in search of a bright future and stability.

The film features important roles by Rajesh Hamal, Sarita Lamichhane, Buddhi Tamang, Mahadev Tripathi, Angela Basnet, Gagan Subedi, Lokesh Bhitrakoti, Divya Neupane, Abigail Lohar, Prasu Giri, Shikha Adhikari, and director Chhetri himself.

The film is jointly produced by Shyam Chhetri Production and National Media Production, with collaboration from ‘Sijal and Sister Foundation for Nepal’. Cinematographer Rabin Acharya, who has produced films like ‘Dying Candle’, ‘Chakkar’, ‘Jayashree Dam’, ‘KTM Cocktail’, and ‘Sarita’, has produced this film.

‘Its subject matter also provides awareness; it is a story connected to the light and darkness of migrant life. The mental health issues we discuss very little, and the beautiful life afterward, provide inspiration,’ said producer Acharya.

Director Chhetri himself prepared the story, screenplay, and dialogue for the film. Amrit Biswa has done the cinematography, and Ram Adhikari has done the editing. RR Films is distributing the film.
