Director S.S. Rajamouli Confirms 'Varanasi' Will Be a Single Film, Not Two Parts

New Delhi. Indian director S.S. Rajamouli is currently busy shooting his upcoming film 'Varanasi'.

It is said that this film is based on ancient mythology and is connected to the Ramayana. Since the day of its announcement, there had been strong speculation that the film would be made in two parts. Now, Rajamouli has removed the 'suspense' regarding this.

After Rajamouli made 'Baahubali' in two parts, it was speculated that 'Varanasi' would also be made in two parts. A video from Rajamouli has ended the long-running speculation about this.

During a conversation with news agency Screen Rant at the launch of 'Varanasi' in Hyderabad in 2025, Rajamouli stated that Varanasi would be a single-part film. Its runtime will be approximately three hours. He mentioned that although it was initially planned to be made in two parts, this plan changed shortly after production began. He was confident that the runtime would not feel too long if the audience became immersed in the story and interested in it.

'Varanasi' is set to release in 2027. Priyanka Chopra, Mahesh Babu, and Prithviraj Sukumaran will play the lead roles in this film. This film has been in the news long before its release. A glimpse of 'Varanasi' was shown in November 2025. Audiences have liked it very much.
