CPN-UML Secretary Mahesh Basnet Accuses Rastriya Swatantra Party of Promoting 'Nomadic Candidates'

Kathmandu. CPN-UML Secretary Mahesh Basnet has stated that the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has initiated a trend of 'nomadic candidates' contesting elections across the country. Leader Basnet made these remarks while addressing the first meeting of the CPN-UML Youth Association on Friday.

'Now, Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City Balen Shah is heading to Jhapa with the intention of preventing KP Oli from entering the parliament,' Basnet said, adding, 'One contests elections from their birthplace. One contests from the place where they grew up and where they are registered voters. Now, the Rastriya Swatantra Party has started this trend of nomadic candidates traveling across the country. Let the nomads wander. Show them development, show them prosperity. Cast your vote for CPN-UML.'

Leader Basnet also urged CPN-UML cadres to chant the slogan 'Goodbye to Nomadic Candidates and Hello to Local Candidates' in this election. Basnet made these comments after RSP leader Balen Shah announced his intention to contest the election from Jhapa-5, the constituency from which CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli has consistently contested.

Basnet further claimed that Rabi Lamichhane and Balen Shah should take responsibility for the death of 12 prisoners who escaped during the Gen-Z movement when Lamichhane fled from jail, leading to other inmates escaping.

Stating that every incident of violence during the Gen-Z movement will be accounted for, he mentioned that the choice between choosing the path of murder and violence or the path of development and prosperity now rests on the shoulders of Nepal's youth.
