Ferilant School Wins Opening Matches in Inter-School Basketball Tournament; KVKSS and Tejaswi Also Victorious in Separate Girls' Event

Kathmandu. The organizing Ferilant International School secured a winning start on Sunday in the second Ferilant Inter-School Basketball Tournament. Ferilant won 1 match in Junior Boys and 2 matches in Junior Girls.

In Junior Boys, Ferilant defeated BMCA 21-16. Rahul Magrati scored 11 points for the winning team.

In Junior Girls, Ferilant 'A' defeated St. Joseph's 44-34, and Ferilant 'B' beat Himshila 16-12. Karuna Bogati scored 15 points for Ferilant 'A', and Innagma Rai scored 6 points for Ferilant 'B'.

In other Junior Boys matches held in Kapan, Gyanbhumi beat Goldenpeak 15-10, Angels Heart defeated Gyan Sanskar 27-18, and JB School overcame Greenland 23-17. Kushal Regmi scored 5 points for Gyanbhumi, Saurav Shrestha scored 10 for Angels Heart, and Bhimraj Rokaya scored 6 for JB School.

In Junior Girls, Newton defeated Manjari 17-12, and Canvas Basanta Ritu edged out JB School 20-18. Sahara Rai scored 6 points for Newton, and Ritika Chaudhary scored 8 for Canvas.

The tournament, featuring a total of 24 teams (12 each in Junior Boys and Junior Girls), was inaugurated by Navaraj Bhattarai, Ward 10 Chairman and spokesperson for Budhanilkantha Municipality, in a ceremony. The finals are scheduled for Magh 16.

• KVKSS and Tejaswi Victorious

The organizing Kathmandu Vidyakunj Secondary School (KVKSS) and Tejaswi Academy registered victories on the opening day, Sunday, of the fifth KVKSS Girls' Inter-School Basketball Tournament.

Out of the KVKSS 'A', 'B', and 'C' teams competing, the 'A' and 'C' teams succeeded. At the home court in Milan Tol, Tokha Municipality, KVKSS 'A' defeated Paramount Academy 30-20. Rosi Shrestha contributed 14 points to KVKSS 'A''s win. With 13 points from Chelisa Gurung, KVKSS 'C' beat Kathmandu Euro 16-10. Gyanodaya defeated KVKSS 'B' 19-10. Simran Tandukar scored 6 points for Gyanodaya.

In other matches, Tejaswi defeated Vasundhara National Academy (BNA) 18-8, Eden Bridge Academy (EBA) overcame JB School 31-20, and Valley Public triumphed over Landmark Academy 25-16. Ester Baruwal scored 12 points for Tejaswi, Anamika Patel scored 20 for EBA, and Drishya Gurung scored 15 for Valley Public.

The competition was inaugurated by KVKSS Principal Nitya Shrestha in a ceremony. The league-cum-knockout tournament, featuring 16 teams, will run until Magh 17.
