Oli's Criticism of the Rival Party

KP Sharma Oli, the chairman of CPN-UML, has commented that the recent "Jengi" movement turned into something else entirely. Speaking at a party event in Kathmandu, the former Prime Minister stated that what happened in the name of the Jengi movement was not a genuine protest. He accused the movement of destroying national and private property, burning down industries and businesses which left poor people unemployed, and forcing poor children to leave their schools, leading to violence and deaths.

Accusations Against the Movement and Government

Oli claimed that many lives were lost during the Jengi movement and that it led to the dissolution of the supreme representative body elected by the sovereign people. He stated that many unnecessary and bad things happened during this period. He said a government that disrespects public opinion has been formed. Oli mentioned that the correct path to save the constitution and democracy is to restore parliament, a campaign led by the UML, which is why some "Jengi" supporters are now returning to the UML. He asserted that the CPN-UML fulfills the aspiration for a prosperous Nepal and happy Nepalis.

Mocking the Rival Political Group

During the event, the party also appreciated leaders like Netra Ramkumari Jhankri for selflessly returning to the party. Oli referred to the party formed by Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' and Madhav Kumar Nepal, the Nepali Communist Party, as a "Senior Citizens Home." He claimed that while elderly people have gone to their party, the working youth are returning to the UML. Mockingly, he said that someone is trying to run a "Senior Citizens Home," and they just need to gather one or two more people, while all the capable workers are coming to the UML.
