Free Bus Service for Travelers After Landslide
In Chitwan, a free bus service has been started for travelers who were stranded by a landslide at the Tuin Khola area on the Narayangadh-Muglin road section. Nepal Police initiated this free service two days ago to help passengers affected by the road blockage.
Service Details and Route
The Chief Police Inspector of the District Police Office explained that the bus service began on Tuesday. Two buses from the Police School in Shantipur are providing this free service. The buses are targeted at travelers who have walked via the Tanahu route and reached the bridge at Five Kilo. The police are transporting these people, who have been walking, to Bharatpur free of charge. This arrangement was made because the road is not expected to open for a long time due to the landslide, leaving travelers stranded.
Coordination and Logistics
When a sufficient number of passengers gather at the Five Kilo point, the police inform the base to send a bus. On the first day, passengers were picked up directly from the landslide site, but from today, the pickup point has been set at Five Kilo. Since the road is blocked, travelers have been forced to walk and take alternative routes on foot.
Ongoing Landslide Challenges
The landslide has been difficult to clear because it keeps recurring. It is estimated that the debris will be fully cleared by Friday. Although a landslide that occurred last Friday was cleared and the road was reopened, another landslide on Tuesday blocked the road again. The work to clear the landslide has been ongoing since this morning.
