Sudurpashchim Province Experiences Widespread Flooding Due to Continuous Rainfall

Dhangadhi. Due to continuous rainfall in Sudurpashchim Province since last night, various areas of Kailali and Kanchanpur districts in the Terai have been inundated. The incessant rain has submerged farmlands, and most settlements and roads in Dhangadhi, the temporary capital of the province, are also flooded.

The accumulation of water in the main roads, alleys, drains, and low-lying settlements of Dhangadhi has disrupted the daily lives of the general public. The flooding has caused problems in the operation of vehicles and pedestrian movement.

As continuous rainfall is occurring, the District Administration Office and concerned bodies have urged citizens residing near rivers, streams, and in low-lying areas to exercise high caution, citing the increased risk of flooding along with inundation.

Children going to school have also been affected by the flooding. Keeping in mind the safety of the students, some local levels in Kailali have declared a public holiday in schools today.

According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, as there is a possibility of rain continuing further, the administration has requested everyone to take necessary precautions.
