Salman Khan Regrets Ignoring His Father’s Advice
Bollywood superstar Salman Khan recently opened up about one of his biggest regrets—not listening to his father, veteran screenwriter Salim Khan, during crucial moments in his life. He admitted that ignoring his father’s guidance led to repeated mistakes, which eventually turned into bad habits. Salman reflected on key instances where following his father’s advice could have changed his career trajectory.
Missed Opportunity in Cricket
Salman’s father, Salim Khan, had high hopes for his son’s cricket career and even hired Pakistani cricketing legend Salim Durrani as his coach. Though Salman had talent, he deliberately played poorly during a match his father attended, leading to his removal from training. Looking back, Salman now regrets this rebellious decision, realizing he could have had a successful career in sports.
Early Struggles in Bollywood
Salman made his acting debut in the 1989 film "Bivi Ho To Aisi," but the movie flopped, leaving him disheartened. He even wished for the film to fail so that no one would watch it. Hoping for a second chance, he asked his father to produce a movie for him. However, Salim Khan bluntly refused, saying, "After coming from Indore to Mumbai, I never bet on a horse. How can I now bet on a donkey?" This harsh rejection forced Salman to work harder, and he eventually found massive success with "Maine Pyar Kiya" (1989), which made him an overnight star.
Learning from Past Mistakes
Salman acknowledged that ignoring his father’s wisdom led to avoidable setbacks. He admitted that repeating mistakes made them harder to overcome, shaping some of his struggles in both personal and professional life. Despite recent box-office disappointments like "Sikandar" (2025), Salman remains a major Bollywood icon and is set to appear in the upcoming film "Battle of Galwan." His story serves as a reminder of the importance of heeding wise counsel before regrets set in.
