'Sati Devi' to Have Special Screening in the U.S.

The Nepali film "Sati Devi", directed by Laxman Subedi, is set for a special international screening in Fairfax, Virginia on August 17. This socially relevant movie, which powerfully conveys the message about valuing daughters in society, originally premiered in Nepal during last year's Bhadau month. The film boasts an impressive cast including Malika Mahat, Sandeep Babu Lohani, Ramesh Budhathoki, Kuldeep Adhikari, and Bhola Raj Sapkota. Produced by Shridevi Subedi under Dilasha Creation in collaboration with California-based Golden State Movie Makers LLC, the project represents a complete creative vision of director Subedi who handled writing, songs, and production. "Sati Devi" has already garnered critical acclaim, winning the "Special Film" category at the National Film Awards 2080 with a cash prize of 200,000 rupees, and was honored as Best Film at last year's South Asian Film Festival 2080 in Sauraha, Chitwan, where it received an additional 50,000 rupee award. This international screening marks an important milestone for Nepali cinema, showcasing the country's storytelling talent on a global platform while promoting its crucial social message about gender equality and the value of girl children.
