Kathmandu – Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is preparing for an official visit to the Central Asian nation of Turkmenistan, according to sources at the Prime Minister’s Office and the Council of Ministers.

Purpose of the Visit

PM Oli will attend the Third Conference of Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDC3), scheduled for August 5–8 in Turkmenistan. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that Nepal’s participation in this high-level summit is strategically significant.

Recent Diplomatic Engagements

  • Spain Visit: PM Oli recently returned (Ashad 20) from Spain after participating in the 4th UN International Conference on Financing for Development.

  • Postponed India Trip: Plans for a visit to India in the second or third week of Shrawan were reportedly delayed due to this sudden Turkmenistan commitment.

  • 32 Member Nations: Includes Nepal, 15 African countries, and 12 Asian nations.
