Nepal Airlines Repays NPR 53 Crore Loan by End of Ashad

Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) has repaid a total of NPR 53.09 crore (NPR 530,955,281) in loan installments by the end of Ashad 2082 (mid-July 2024), according to a press release issued by the corporation on Thursday. The payment includes the full installment for two narrow-body aircraft and a partial installment for two wide-body aircraft purchased for international flights. The loans were taken from the Employees' Provident Fund and Citizens' Investment Trust.

The press release further stated that NAC has now repaid a cumulative amount of NPR 7.92 billion (NPR 792,146,376) in loan installments under the aircraft purchase liability category as of the end of Ashad 2082. This repayment marks progress in the national flag carrier's efforts to manage its financial obligations related to the acquisition of its fleet.

The corporation has been working to clear its debts gradually, with this latest payment covering obligations up to the specified period. The repayment comes as part of NAC's broader financial restructuring plan to stabilize its operations and improve fiscal sustainability.
